100 years of history

Bronislovas Zatorskis was one of the first in Šiauliai to begin publishing photographic postcards with views of the city. His photo studio in Šiauliai operated on Didžioji Kalėjimo Street (today Vilniaus Street), in the Shapiro building. The earliest known postcard issued by him bears a postal stamp from 1903. The photographer published two similar postcard series, each consisting of about ten photo postcards. Around 1910, B. Zatorskis produced a set of four photo postcards using laboratory photographic methods, dedicated to the agricultural achievements exhibition held in Šiauliai that year. This is considered one of the earliest photo reportages by a Šiauliai photographer documenting an event of this kind in the city.
